What is a 360° virtual tour? A plain guide for Pakistani businesses

What a 360° virtual tour actually is, how it's made, and how Panora uses it for campuses, hotels and housing schemes in Pakistan — with real tours as examples.

A 360° virtual tour is a set of panoramic photos, linked together, that a visitor can walk through on a phone, laptop or VR headset. Each panorama captures everything around one point: floor, ceiling, every wall. The visitor drags to look around and taps to move to the next point.

That's it. No app to install. No special hardware. One link that opens in a browser. The lecture theatre on our homepage is that format, live.

How a tour is made

A team visits the space with a 360° camera on a tripod. They shoot from planned positions, usually every few metres and at every doorway, so each view connects naturally to the next. Lighting is checked room by room. The tripod is removed from the final images.

Back in the studio, the panoramas are stitched, colour-corrected and joined into a walkable path. Hotspots are added: labels, floor plans, room sizes, video, contact buttons. The tour is then published to a link you can share or embed on your website.

A campus, not a brochure

FAST Lahore is the clearest example we have of the difference. A prospectus photograph of a lab does not tell a student in Karachi what the corridor feels like, or how the blocks sit together. The FAST tour does. Leadership walked it in a headset before it went live — which is the point of VR: the same capture, full presence.

Labs, classrooms and campus life — including a VR-ready walk for open days.

Case study

What makes a tour good, not just 360°

  • Consistent camera height, so walking feels natural and scale reads correctly.
  • Enough positions that no corner is hidden. The corner a brochure skips is the one buyers ask about.
  • Clean stitching. Visible seams break trust faster than a bad photo.
  • A logical route. Start where a real visitor would enter.
  • Fast loading on mobile data, because most people will open it on a phone.

Where 360° tours earn their keep

Real estate and developments

Buyers can judge room sizes, flow and finishes before they drive across the city. At Central Park Housing Scheme we captured the gate, the roads and the aerial so a plot is no longer a colour on a map.

Education

Parents and students, especially those in other cities or abroad, can see classrooms, labs, hostels and grounds. Central Park Medical College, Sage, Beaconhouse, ICL and USP all use the same idea: the campus stops being a promise.

Hotels, venues and offices

Guests check the actual room, not the best angle. Event planners can measure a hall with their eyes — which is why Expo Centre Lahore and Avari exist as tours, not photo sets.

Photo vs video vs 360°

A photo shows what the photographer chose. A video shows what the editor chose. A tour shows what the visitor chooses. That single difference, control, is why tours answer questions that photos and video leave open.

Is it right for you?

If people regularly ask to visit before deciding, or if you lose leads because they can't visit easily, a tour will pay for itself in time saved. If your space is small and simple, good photos may be enough. Ask us. We'll tell you honestly.
